The National Continence Helpline (1800 33 00 66) is a free telephone service that offers confidential information, advice and support.

The National Continence Helpline (1800 33 00 66) is staffed by Nurse Continence Specialists who offer free and confidential information, advice and support to people affected by incontinence. They also provide a wide range of continence resources and information on local continence services.

The Nurse Continence Specialists on the Helpline have extensive experience and qualifications in continence care.

The Helpline is available to anyone living in Australia and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. The National Continence Helpline operates Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm (VIC time). This may vary by state due to time zone differences. Closed on public holidays.

Telephone interpreter service

If you need an interpreter or are more comfortable having a conversation in a language other than English, please call the National Continence Helpline on 1800 33 00 66 and an interpreter will be organised for you.  Otherwise, call TIS (Translating and Interpreting Service) National on 131 450 and ask them to call the National Continence Helpline on 1800 33 00 66. The National Continence Helpline operates Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm (VIC time). This may vary by state due to time zone differences. Closed on public holidays.

  • prevention and management of incontinence or bladder and bowel conditions
  • women – pregnancy, childbirth, prolapse and menopause
  • children – toilet training, bedwetting, day wetting, soiling
  • medical conditions 
  • funding schemes including CAPS and NDIS
  • continence product advice.

The National Continence Helpline provides information about:

  • assessment and diagnosis of incontinence, bladder and bowel conditions
  • treatment options
  • management – including continence product information and advice
  • information about funding schemes to assist people with the costs of continence products
  • details of local continence services
  • details of suitable product suppliers and manufacturers
  • access to a wide range of free information including brochures, booklets, and information in languages other than English.
